Our Adventure to Taiwan: August 2006

This is our office outing. These are all of the people that we work with. We went to Kending it is a resort town because it is next to the ocean. We stayed at a hotel that had a water park in it. That is where we rode the Toilet slide (hehe) We also rented boogie boards and went to play in the ocean. It was really fun except I had a scare when I was swimming back into shore with our friend Shaun and he was stung by jelly fish. He was only like a foot away from me. I feel lucky it wasn't me! It's really beautiful ehh?

This is Monkey Mountain. This place is so amazing, there are monkeys everywhere they are used to humans so they are not afraid to get near you. You are not supposed to carry food because they will go after it. David had a plastic bag and the monkey thought it was food and tried to take it from him. Some other people down the road had some fruit and the monkeys just ran for them the people threw the fruit and the monkeys caught it in mid air. A lady that was in front of us petted one and the monkey jumped on her face and slapped her cheek he also pulled her hair. It was so mad its face was red. We had a few scares but it was so fun! These are our friends Susan and Shaun.

This is ME at the Chinese witch doctor (as David calls it) My back had been really bothering me. Scott told us about this amazing doctor and swore he could fix me. It was quite the experience! He massaged my back it hurt really bad. And when he would push on certain parts of my back that were sore it would hurt on certain parts of my hand. Then he and another employee one at my head & one at my feet pulled on me and put everything back into alignment. It was scary hearing all the popping of my bones. Then they put suction cups on my back, to make the blood circulate better. This is Scott and his little boy Nathan. (he is so cute)

This is at the 50th anniversary of missionary's being in Taiwan. It was a wonderful celebration. It was weird for me to think that the gospel has only been in this land for fifty years. It was so wonderful to see how many members were there. The missionary's have been working so hard for fifty years to get that many members. I was so happy to have been part of it. I was also so proud to know David had been an instrument in the lord's hands to help these people find the gospel. I was glad he was able to come back to see it. He cried tears of joy!

This is our boss Steve, he is very fun! He invited us to dinner. His wife Elane made a delicous stew. We also had duck meat, fruit, bread & apple pie. Steve was sneaking a whole plate of meat because he says his wife will not let him eat like that. He entertained us by telling funny stories. It was a blast!

These are our pet turtles Gertie & Wilson I won them at a night market. Gertie died, but Wilson is still kicking around. He likes to barry himself in the rocks at the bottom of his bowl. It is so cute. This girl is holding a baby pig while she eats dinner at the same night market.

This is our friend Susan at a singing competition. She sings really well. It was really fun to go and watch her. It was kind of like watching American Idol!

We arrived in Gaoxing July 13th. This is where we will be spending most of the year. We live in a place called Niao Song just on the outskirts of Gaoxing. It is very beautiful here I feel as if our back yard is a jungle. Unfortunatley for that we have had many creepy creatures & also some fun ones. I really love catching the geckos. The spider you see was as big as Davids hand. It was also carrying a large egg sac about the size of a fifty cent piece. And last but not least a cock roach as big as Davids toe. I had a pet gecko I named him Chester he started to turn color so i thought he was getting sick, I let him go on the tree. I later learned geckos turn color. Click on the pictures to see them larger.
